The small church in Maderno is dedicated to St. Andrew and dates back to the 12th Century. It is said it was build over a pre-existent holy place. This church represents one of the most significant union of First Romanesque, an architectural style that took place in the region of Lombardy, and the Romanesque style typical of Verona. The façade is made of polychrome stones and marbles, some of Ancient Roman origin, lending a brightener and vibrant look to the building. The interior structure is divided into a barrel vaulted nave and two aisles with four-lobed pillars finely carved with elaborate interlacing figures classic of Romanesque style. The barrel vault dates back to the 15th Century and on the presbytery there is a precious altarpiece, “Madonna and Child” (year 1347, painter Paolo Veneziano).
